Sulige gas field is located in Erdos city of the west-southern Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, which is a resource enriched area in the western China. After exploration for two years, the proved OGIP in Sulige gas field located in Ordos basin has grew up to 602.527 BCM, becoming the first giant gas field in term of reserves globally.

Being as a key construction project in the country as well as in Inner Mongolia, the design, drilling and development test of the pilot project targeted for 3X108 m3 OGIP completed in one year and natural gas was delivered officially for sales in the same year through the joint efforts of enterprises and local government.

As of the end of September 2002, according to the general deployment of Changqing Oilfield Company, No.3 Gas Producing Division had drilled and completed 18 wells in the pilot area of Sulige gas field. Two gathering gas stations and one central gas gathering & distribution station have been built up. Totally, there are 177 km pipeline welded and connected, including gas gathering trunks, branches and gas flowing pipes / glycol injecting pipes for 10 wells, ensuring a gas deliver of 3X108 m3 for sales through No. 2 purification plant
In 2002, another over 30 exploration wells were drilled and completed and the No. 2 natural gas purification plant was built up in Suligemiao gas field, the largest integral gas field in China. A 511 km long gas transmission pipeline from Changqing to Huhhot with the gas field located within Wushenqi as the major gas source is under busy construction at present. Also, as planned, Changqing oilfield will deliver 3 BCM gas to Yangzi river delta area first by 2003 and the gas field located within Wushenqi will be one of the most important gas sources for west - east transmission project.
