Kelar-2 gas field is located in the central Kelasu structural belt of Kuqa depression in Tarim basin, 59km east – north of Baicheng county and about 20km to the highway from Kuqa to Baicheng in south.
Kela-2 gas field was discovered by the industrial gas flowing from well Kera-2 in Jan.1998. The discovery of Kera-2 gas field has created four extremes in the history of gas field exploration, namely the highest reserves proven in an integral gas field, the highest gas abundance per area, the highest production from single well and the least number of exploration wells.
Up to 2000, 47.1 km2 gas-bearing area and OGIP 2506.10×108m3 had been proven，laying a resource foundation for East-West Gas Transmission Project in China. Kera-2 is regarded as a gas field with high production, high pressure and high abundance.
