Wenzhong gas field is located in the northern part of Wenliu structure of the Central uplift zone in Dongpu sag within Wenliu town of Puyang city, Henan province.
Wenzhong gas field was discovered as a result of the industrial gas flowing from well Wen-4 in Apri.1977. As of the end of 1998, following resources had been proven: gas-bearing area 13.2 km2 and OGIP 152.32×108m3. With its reserve abundance of 11.53×108m3/km2, it is regarded as a high abundance gas field. With a yearly gas production of 4.28×108m3, its accumulative gas production had been up to 39.3×108m3 as of the end of 1997.
