| Henan oilfield lies in Nanyang basin of the west-southern
Henan with its operation area covering three cities (prefectural)
of Nanyang, Zhumadian and Pingdingshan as well as eight counties,
including Xinye and Tanghe.
The oil and gas exploration in Henan oilfield begun in 1955. Nanyang
oilfield was discovered in Nanyang sag of Nanxiang basin as a result
of commercial oil flowing from Dongzhuang anticlinal structure on
Aug.8,1971. By the end of 1997, there were 16 oilfields discovered
totally, including Nanyang and Shuanghe, with an accumulative proven
OOIP and OGIP of 1.98¡Á108 t and 40.06¡Á108m3 respectively. Its annual
oil and gas productions were 185.06¡Á104 t and 0.33¡Á108m3 respectively.
A yearly oil production capacity of 200¡Á104 t has been established
there.
Nanyang oilfield is an example successful for oil and gas exploration
in middle and small basins in 70¡¯s last century. Now, it is one
of the medium bases for oil production in China.
